The excitement for Hayao Miyazaki is at a fever pitch in Orlando! In May, The Enzian Theater is hosting THREE showings of Princess Mononoke, and we're planning a special two-time showing of Anime Nite Orlando as well, featuring Porco Rosso and Spirited Away! So why not have a podcast dedicated to anime's greatest visionary and the face of Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki!
We talk about the significance of Princess Mononoke at The Enzian and the need for them to show more anime, and then we talk about our favorite Hayao Miyazaki movies, amazing fan theories, his redefining of Lupin the 3rd, and his massive impact on animation and film! You do not want to miss this!

On Thursday, May 19th, Propeller Anime invites you to celebrate night of one of anime's greatest visionaries, Hayao Miyazaki! It will be fun times at Bikkuri Lounge with the best in Japanese animation and cuisine!

ANIME NITE ORLANDO: Miyazaki May feat. Spirited Away! (5/19)
Yes! Anime is back at the legendary Enzian Theater in Maitland, FL with Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's fantasy epic, Princess Mononoke! You can bet that we will be there Tuesday, May 10th AND Friday, May 13th for an awesome night!
UPDATE: The May 10th showing is SOLD OUT, but the May 13th is still available. Get them soon!
For those new to the Enzian, it is a dinner theater, so you can order food and drinks before the movie starts. It is definitely the best place in Orlando to watch a movie so we're excited that this is happening.

Princess Mononoke at The Enzian! (5/10 & 5/13)
This Sunday, November 29th, The Enzian Theater in Maitland, FL will be playing Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's classic film, Kiki's Delivery Service. Some of us already have tickets and we want to see you there too!
The movie starts at noon but let's meet around 11am to hang out before the movie so we can get good seats together. Also, The Enzian is a dinner theater so you can order food and drinks and enjoy those while watching the movie.

This time, Kent and Shamus talk about one of Japan's most critically acclaimed directors, one Mamoru Hosoda! He's famous for directing Summer Wars, Wolf Children, and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
Of course, since he is the heir apparent to Hayao Miyazaki's throne, we compare and contrast their styles and even see how Hosoda fares against other modern anime directors like Takeshi Koike and Makoto Shinkai. This is a fun podcast that you don't want to miss!

We're going to see the latest Studio Ghibli movie, When Marnie Was There, at the Florida Film Festival! It's been a while since anime was at the Florida Film Festival so let's go out there in full force!
When Marnie Was There is directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi(The Secret World of Arrietty). The showing will be Sunday, April 19th at noon at the Regal Winter Park Village! (510 N. Orlando Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32798. Get your tickets here!

When Marnie Was There at the Florida Film Festival! (4/19)
Once again, Propeller Anime presents another night with the best in Japanese animation and cuisine! On Thursday, March 19th, we'll host another exciting edition of Anime Nite Orlando!
Our main feature comes from Production I.G and is one of the most charming and whimsical films of this decade, A Letter to Momo. If you like Studio Ghibli movies, this one will be right up your alley!
Following the death of her father, who left her a letter that never got beyond a greeting, Momo struggles to come to terms with her grief and guilt, and finds herself distanced from her mother.
When the two move to a new home on a remote island in the Japanese Inland Sea, Momo befriends a young boy and his perceptive younger sister, a timid postman and three rascally goblins. With their help, Momo prepares to take the plunge into her new life on the island.

Propeller Anime presents the last Anime Nite Orlando of the year! It's the holidays so we'll have a fun movie as our main feature! Wear your ugly Christmas sweaters and Santa hats! We'll be at Bikkuro Lounge(1919 E. Colonial Dr. Orlando, FL) on Thursday, December 18th!
Get ready for great anime, delicious food, and awesome times! Our main feature will be Studio Ghibli's Castle in the Sky! Directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki!
A girl named Sheeta falls out of the sky and lands in Pazu's arms. Soon after a gang of air pirates led by Dola, as well as a mysterious man named Muska, are on their tails. The chase leads them to a floating castle that once belonged to an ancient race of people.
We'll be showing Castle in the Sky in English which stars Anna Paquin as Sheeta and Mark Hamill as Muska. THAT'S RIGHT LUKE SKYWALKER HIMSELF IS AN ANIME VOICE ACTOR!
Before Castle in the Sky, we'll be showing The Vision of Escaflowne! Mecha and fantasy clash in this classic series created by Shoji Kawamori (Macross) with music by Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop). Funimation will be re-releasing this series next year!
Last but not least, we'll be holding a prize raffle, thanks to our friends at Anime Orlando Inc! They have provided us with a Totoro tote bag filled with goodies inspired by My Neighbor Totoro! In this episode, we look at the largest gathering of geeks in Florida, the latest big anime announcements, and Studio Ghibli's latest movie!
MegaCon, Florida's all-encompassing geek media mecca, took place this past weekend at the Orange County Convention Center. Kent and Shamus give the rundown on that, the major happenings, the feedback, and the convention's anime presence.
We even go over a panel report from Juan Sanmiguel of the Orlando Science Fiction Society from Sunday's panel "Anime 2014: What to Expect" Thanks, Juan!
Then we change gears to all the tremendous news that broke out in the world of anime that everyone missed while going to MegaCon! A new Lupin the 3rd movie directed by Takeshi Koike, a new season of Psycho Pass, new Shinichiro Watanabe anime(besides Space Dandy), the Attack on Titan English cast announcements, and more!
Finally, we give our thoughts on Hayao Miyazaki's final film, The Wind Rises, including the low gross at the U.S. Box office and what that could mean for future anime theatrical releases.

Propeller Anime Radio #14: MegaCon Recap, Tons of 2014 Anime News, The Wind Rises
This weekend, the latest movie from Studio Ghibli and final film of the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, The Wind Rises, plays in theaters throughout the nation this weekend. And would you look at that: Orlando's getting it!
We're going.
If that doesn't work for you, we urge you to see the movie this weekend at another time if possible. Anime rarely gets played in theaters and there are so many more times Kent can wear a dress!
Speaking of Kent, his otaku expiration hits this weekend and we'll be celebrating his impending doom Saturday night at Bikkuri Lounge, located at 1919 E. Colonial Dr. Orlando, FL. You know, the same place we've had Anime Nite Orlando for the past year. (Except it's called DING! this time.)

The party is FREE to attend. There will be videogames including some golden age fighters and retro classics. Flail your body wildly to crazy 80s/90s dance music with videogame remixes and other weirdness thrown in. We'll even have a pinata to smash! Hayao Miyazaki's "The Wind Rises" Playing This Weekend! Plus Kent's 30th Birthday Bash!
The first Anime Nite Orlando of Propeller Anime's EIGHTH year will be Thursday, November 14th at Bikkuri Lounge, located at 1919 E. Colonial Dr. Orlando, FL! It will be a night of great friends, delicious Japanese cuisine, and some of the best anime ever!
We are excited to kick off the next year of anime showings with a bang featuring a movie we have never shown before in out entire history. Directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, our headliner will be Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke!

Princess Mononoke is the movie that brought international mainstream attention to both Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. It also helped anime gain a lot of appreciation in the United States as a legitimate form of story telling during the start of the anime boom that closed out the nineties.
If you haven't seen this movie, you are in for a fantastic treat. Even if you have, come out and see this tremendous film with a lounge filled with passionate fans of anime.
